Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctor’s discretion and are normally for patients on long-term treatment. If you think you may need a new prescription for medicine, please make an appointment with the doctor.

The easiest way to request a repeat prescription is Online. Our patient apps, linked below, can help you request repeat medication at your convenience with automated delivery of your prescription to your preferred pharmacy. It will show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

Both apps provide very similar services so you should only need access to one of the NHS App or the Patient Access app.

Paper requests can be delivered to the practice at any time using the letterbox to the left of the main entrance or by dropping it into our Dispensary during its opening times.

Alternatively, you can call the practice to order. Our Dispensary phone lines open at 10:30am each day, you will then be added to their call back list to be contacted that day to order your prescriptions. Phone number: 01789 269386

Queries about your medication

Medication queries can be communicated to the practice in a number of ways:

  • Adding a comment to your online or paper repeat prescription order.
  • Speaking to a Clinical Pharmacist.
  • Speaking to our Dispensary Team.
  • Contacting the practice by phone on 01789 269386 or by email on enquiries@rothermc.nhs.uk
Do I need to register every time I request a prescription?

No, this only needs to be done the first time that you use the service. When collecting login details please bring a form of ID with you

Why can I not see all my medications on the repeat prescription list?

The doctor who prescribed your medication will decide whether it will be listed as a repeat medication on your records. This is a safety issue to ensure you are reviewed appropriately before any further medication is prescribed for you. If it is appropriate for you to order further prescriptions of the medication online it will be available for you to see and order when you login.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner, practice nurse or clinical pharmacist at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. You may be asked to do a blood test before your review.

It is a good idea to ensure you are aware of your annual medication review date so you can book an appropriate appointment in advance to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions. If you are not aware of when your medication review is due, please feel free to ask at reception.

Ordering on the behalf of others

If you are unable to or would find it easier for someone else to order your prescriptions this can be arranged.

You can set up proxy access. The ‘proxy’ user will be able to view your prescriptions on their NHS App/Patient Access app and order them on your behalf. We require written consent for this to be applied, please collect a proxy access form from reception to do so.

Alternatively, you can inform the practice that someone other than yourself will speak to dispensary and collect your prescriptions.

Pharmacy services

Stratford-upon-Avon has multiple pharmacies that you can elect to have your prescriptions collected/delivered from.

It is often easiest to choose the pharmacy closest to your door, however, different pharmacies provide different services that may best suit your needs. You can discuss this with our dispensary or directly with the pharmacies themselves to decide.

To inform us of your decision, contact our dispensary, write to the practice or include your preferred pharmacy when you next order your medication on the app.
